fun shoot!/outtake

Posted By craig on February 8, 2010

So last weekend I got to do a portrait session with recording artist Blitz the Ambassador. The shoot went really well. I chose to do two basic lighting scenarios as he was pressed for time. In reference to my earlier post about access to music artists, I lucked out and got a brief look into who this talented man is, he opened up and we had some fun.
It’s always a gift when a subject is easy to collaborate with and is really enjoying what you and he/she are doing with that brief slice of time together. In this case I got an opportunity to get a shot of an artist on the rise, but without the constraints that may come from management and image advisors (sheesh!) with gaining success. A big part of the shot you may get from a subject has to do with how assuring you are as a shooter, your “setside manner” if you will. After a short amount of time together I could tell he was comfortable with what we were doing and by the end of the shoot, his whole family had come by to check out what we were up to. It’s positive energy like this that makes sense of this whole game.

  1. I’m so glad you had the chance to experience this collaboration :) and no doubt your ’setside manners’ make anyone at ease…xo
